I was just on Koh Rong Sanloem, and much of what you wrote about is still true and probably worse than it was when you were there. Lots and lots of rubbish washed up on your Robinson Crusoe beach at Clearwater Bay. I think the hostel is closed and that beach has seen better days. I was at M’Pai Bay, and was really reluctant to swim in the water when I hiked along the beach to find that nasty lagoon filled with brackish brown water and trash EVERYWHERE. Now they’re building roads and clearing a lot of forest in what looks to be some designs on fully connecting and developing the island. Yet I managed to hike over the Lazy Beach and spend an afternoon, maybe the last best place on the island to have that lonely beach feeling. It was relatively clean and free of tourists. Thanks for writing about your adventures. You’ve actually helped me make a few tough choices as my family and I are limited for travel time. Anyway, I was wondering if you could give me some advice on the ferry service to get to the islands. Which company do you recommend?
