I booked my accommodation one step at a time while I was there. Worked pretty well!

Is it necessary to book all accomodation before arrival, or can you easily book your next stay once you’re there? (we are going to Santo Antao in the first week of April)

The popular trails are marked, mostly they are very obvious with only one way to go. I also used the maps.me offline maps app just in case.

How did you stay on the right routes? Are these well marked or did you use a map or an app?

You did not mention Ribeira da Torre valley. It is a great place to stay and for a hiker easy access to Xoxo, Ribeira Grande, Sinagoga, and Ponta do Sol. Paul is also really not far. As soon as I am permitted to travel again I will go back and stay again at Longueira, in Ribeira da Torre. Orlando Freitas has a great apartment to rent and the neighbours are simply the best. The apartment on Booking.com is listed as Da Montanha. The best of people, helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Good Luck if you go again.
